As the world commemorate the 2024 sickle cell awareness day, the wife of Ebonyi State Governor Chief Mrs Mary Maudalene Ogbonna Nwifuru through her pet project Better Health for Rural woman, children orphan’s and displaced persons foundation has sponsored health insurance for 200 sickle cell warriors in the state to reduce mortality rate.
the state first lady flagged off the enrollment on Tuesday in Abakaliki Ebonyi State Capital as support for individuals living with sickle cell disease in the state.
she hinted that the program aims to empower the survivors with the knowledge and resources they need to manage their condition effectively and fulfilling lives.
sickle cell disease is a genetic condition that affects millions of people worldwide, causing severe pain, frequent hospitalization, and numerous complications.
the wife of Ebonyi State Governor also used the opportunity to express her gratitude to her husband the governor of Ebonyi State, his Excellency Rt. hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, for his commitment in improving the health sector in Ebonyi State.
As you all know, health is one of the priorities of the present government as contained in our manifesto – the peoples charter of needs .
