at the Staff Development Center, Dr. Stephen I. Odo, the Director General of Ebonyi State Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency(EBSMEDA), and his team under the leadership of His Excellency Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru Successfully conducted interviews with 145 jubilee fellows, which were done in 3 batches for deployment to Ministries, Departments, & Agencies (MDAs) in Ebonyi State.
EBSMEDA as the focal point has been granted the role and responsibility to handle the United Nations Development Programme-Nigeria Jubilee Fellowship Programme (UNDP-NJFP) on behalf of the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in the State.
Dr. Odo, while addressing the Fellows assured them of His Excellency’s Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru commitment to making sure they are being placed in various MDAs where they will be working for the next 12 months and encouraged them not to focus on just getting the stipend but to focus more on gathering experience that will help them in the future.
He spoke on the importance of gaining financial literacy and how it will help them gain stability and knowledge in making decisions and building a business.
He advised that when starting a business, start small and start now. Also, learn to start with your own money and build your business yourself. Don’t borrow if you can and if you do, use it for investment.
He made them to understand that, gaining financial literacy is one of the key strategies to building a sustainable and profitable business.
