
Ebonyi state has reaffirmed its commitment to becoming the food basket of Nigeria, with the launch of a comprehensive agricultural development plan aimed to achieving food sufficiency
Governor Francis nwifuru,who unveiled the plan at a stakeholders forum in abakaliki, said the state government has set aside #10 billion ti support farmers and agricultural businesses.

The plan includes the establishment of mechanised farms ,provision of inputs and equipment to farms, provision of inputs and equipment to farmers, and the development of rural infrastructure to ease market access.
According to the Governor “our vision is to make ebonyi state the the leading producer of rice ,yam and cassava in Nigeria, and we are committed to providing the necessary support to our farmers to achieve the goal.”
The agricultural development plan is expected to create over 100,000 jobs and increase the state internally generated revenue by 20% annually.
The state government agricultural development plan also includes the establishment of an agricultural development agency, which will oversee the implementation of the plan and provide support to farmers. Additionally, the state has partnered with private investors to establish a #5 billion agricultural fund , which well provide loan and grants to farmers to support their activities with these initiative, ebonyi state is poised to become a leading agricultural hub in Nigeria, providing food for its citizen and creating jobs and economic opportunities for its people.
