The wife of the governor of Ebonyi state Her Excellency Chief Mrs. mary-maudline Uzoamaka Ogbonna Nwifuru, in collaboration with the ministry of women affairs has waged war against female genital mutilation (FGM) In the state.
As of two years ago, Ebonyi state came the overall second state in the rate of female circumcision in Nigeria with the average number of 72%. Currently speaking, Ebonyi state has left the second position of 72% to 50%, leaving Imo state with the highest number of female circumcision in Nigeria.
Kudos to the wife of the governor for a job well done, bringing Ebonyians to the light.
